Trichocentrum lanceanum | 4" Pot | BS not in bloom

If you love bold patterns, rich colors, and incredible fragrance, Trichocentrum lanceanum (formerly Oncidium lanceanum) deserves a prime spot in your collection. Often nicknamed the "Leopard Orchid," this impressive lowland species from tropical South America is famous for its thick, leathery leaves covered in reddish-purple freckles and its stunning, heavily spotted blooms.

The long-lasting flowers feature rich chocolate-brown and olive petals dappled with dark purple spots, offset by a vibrant, fan-shaped lip that fades from deep violet-magenta to crisp white. As a major bonus, the blooms emit a sweet, spicy scent reminiscent of vanilla and cinnamon!

Unlike typical Oncidiums with thin leaves and pseudobulbs, T. lanceanum is a "mule-ear" orchid—it grows without pseudobulbs, relying on its thick, rigid, water-storing leaves to handle warm, sunny tropical environments.
